[At the bottom of this blog post is a link to a 4-minute video that will change the way you work every day! I’ll teach you how to use the most important free program that I use that can literally save you hours every day.]
Time management is one of the most important tools for being successful. If you plan your time properly, you will get many more things done than if you simply drift from task to task.
There’s a great, free online tool called GoalTime that makes time management very easy. All you need to do is enter the various tasks that you need to accomplish during the day as soon as you start working in the morning. You just enter all your meetings, assignments, mailings, and phone calls (or whatever else you occupy yourself with during the day). You estimate a time frame for each task and place in order of priority. GoalTime easily prioritizes your tasks as you can move them up and down the list as your daily demands change.
With a concrete list in front of you, not only can you see all your daily tasks, but because you estimate how long they will take, you know how much you can get done in a day. If you see that you have thirteen hours’ worth of tasks ahead of you, for example, then you might consider reevaluating your priorities and doing the most important things first.
GoalTime is one of the many online tools that Susan Polgar and I have found useful in our daily working lives. Like other busy people we want to get the most out of every day.
The less time work-related stuff takes, the more time we have for spending with our families, and playing chess! If you are interested in learning about the other online tools we use to organize our time, read the ebook we wrote called The Grandmaster’s Toolbox. If you haven’t already read this, you can download it for free when you sign up for the Rich As A King blog and podcasts, or sign up on our general subscription list.
